After surgery, you’ll be on the path to a happier, healthier you and your team at Surgical Healing Arts Center will provide help at every bend in the road.
Your journey to a healthier life after bariatric surgery requires a fundamental change in the way you will live the rest of your life. Your body and mind will take a while to adjust, but changes start to happen even before you leave your hospital room. At Surgical Healing Arts, your professional team will teach you how to live with the surgical option you chose. These committed professionals will not only teach you basics of what happens during and after surgery, but also new habits you’ll need to adopt in order to achieve and maintain your new healthy weight. In addition to classes, you'll be given written guidelines to follow and provided both personalized and group support for life.
Most patients are ready and able to go home the day after surgery. Your weight loss team will help prepare you for that day by teaching you about the recovery process, the right fluid intake to maintain and how to avoid post-surgery complications. Your Surgical Healing Arts support team will make sure you move through your recovery in a healthy way.
Please make plans to attend your support group meetings after surgery. You'll be surprised to know how much you have in common with other patients who've undergone weight-loss surgery and how much encouragement and support they'll give you. A circle of compassionate, understanding people is a key component of your new, healthy life.
In addition to emotional support, you'll be scheduled for visits with the surgeons and nurse practitioner to monitor your progress and make sure you’re losing weight in a healthy way. Once you’re through the initial weight-loss phase, you’ll only need a checkup once or twice a year to assure you’re in good health and your weight stays at a healthy level.
