Dr. Shieh is experienced in several major weight loss surgical procedures, enabling Surgical Healing Arts Center patients in the Naples-Fort Myers, Florida area to choose the best option for their needs. He is also trained in cosmetic surgery and offers post-massive weight loss body contouring. His areas of surgical expertise include post massive weight loss body contouring procedures, revisional bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, anti-reflux surgery and complex wound care.

Before joining the Surgical Healing Arts Center, he attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. He completed his residency at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center, an affiliate of Michigan State University.

Dr. Shieh completed fellowships in both laparoscopic surgery from Northeast Surgical Group – Great Lakes Bariatric Treatment Center and cosmetic surgery through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

He is board certified in General Surgery and is currently board eligible for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Bariatric and General Surgery

A board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeon, Dr. Saeed is interested in bariatric surgery as both a medical professional and a patient. After struggling for many years with obesity, Dr. Saeed underwent bariatric surgery in his early 20s and was finally able to shed excess weight and improve his overall health. Today, he is a staunch advocate for the procedure for patients who have tried and repeatedly failed at other means of weight loss.

Before joining Surgical Healing Arts, he was a general, bariatric and trauma surgeon in Evanston, Illinois.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology, graduating with magnum cum laude honors from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He served a general surgery residency at the University of Illinois Chicago-Metropolitan Group Hospitals and had a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Scripps Health in San Diego.

At St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, he was Medical Director for Trauma Surgery, chairman of the Robotic Surgery Committee and assistant director of the Bariatric Surgery Committee. He served as Assistant Clinical Professor for residents and medical students at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and the University of California-Riverside School of Medicine in Riverside, CA. At St. Francis Hospital, he was named Non-medicine Specialist of the Year in 2021 by residents. Continental Who’s Who Registry named him Pinnacle Clinic Professional Member in 2021 for excellence in bariatric and general surgery.

Dr. Saeed is also board-certified in Bariatric Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). He is also certified in robotic surgery and has completed over 100 advanced robotic procedures. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

He has presented at national and international surgical meetings regarding bariatric and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Saeed has provided medical services to the underserved in Chicago, as well as working with youth. He is fluent in English and Arabic.

General and Bariatric Surgery

A board-certified and fellowship-trained general surgeon, Dr. Kazi returns to Surgical Healing Arts after seeking training as a fellow in bariatric foregut surgery. His passion as a bariatric surgeon is to match each patient with the surgery that will best help them meet their needs.

He is board certified in general surgery and with two fellowship trainings in Bariatric and Foregut Surgery and advanced laparoscopy and endoscopy.  He holds certifications in Orbera Balloon Weight Loss System and Overstitch Endoscopic Suturing System.

He worked at Surgical Healing Arts as an advanced gastrointestinal surgeon from 2015-17. In 2016, he was named Outstanding Physician of the Quarter for his work with Surgical Healing Arts at Gulf Coast Medical Center. Most recently, he completed his bariatric surgery fellowship (2018-19) at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he stayed to continue his practice before returning to Florida.

He graduated from Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine after receiving an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Miami. Dr. Kazi completed a residency at St. John’s Hospital of Macomb-Oakland in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where he was named surgical resident of the year. He was a fellow in Advanced GI Minimally Invasive Surgery at St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Care Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Kazi enjoys teaching and has been a preceptor for medical students and residents for most of his surgical career.

Angela earned a master’s degree in exercise science and human performance from the University of Alberta. An exercise enthusiast herself, she has participated in more than 130 Ironman competitions, was a pacer at the London Marathon in 2018, was a four-time Championship Qualifier/Competitor and Member of the USA Wold Triathlon Team in 2005 and 2006 and was a collegiate scholarship athlete.

She has more than 30 years of experience coaching recreational and professional athletes and Olympians from children to seniors, working with clients in the U.S. Europe, Australia and the Middle East.

Angie has been featured on NBC and is a contributor to Forbes, Men’s Health and Triathlete Magazine. She writes a national, weekly column for Gannet News covering topics related to health, fitness and wellness of mind, body and spirit.
